Mangrove Restoration Lead
Lynette John is a marine scientist at West Africa Blue, bringing over a decade of experience in marine biology, fisheries management, and coastal ecosystem conservation. Prior to joining West Africa Blue, Lynette worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Marine Biology and Oceanography at Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone, where she conducted extensive fieldwork and research on fisheries and marine ecosystems along the West African coast. She has also served as a Project Officer for Wetlands International Africa, working on the Pilot Project for Sustainable Coastal Zone Management in Sierra Leone.
Lynette has collaborated on various environmental and biodiversity assessments, including projects funded by the African Development Bank, World Bank, and the United Nations. Her research has spanned topics from fisheries development to seagrass monitoring and the sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems. She holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Marine Sciences from Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone, and has contributed to several academic publications in her field.
